Katmai National Park is a pristine wilderness oasis in southern Alaska. So, it is best to plan ahead and make reservations in advance. Tip: Glacier Bay is a popular destination, and campsites, lodges, and tours can fill up quickly during peak season. Seeing the blue hues of the tidewater glacier is a must for anyone visiting the national park. The park’s biggest attraction is the Margerie Glacier. There are also sparkling fjords as far as the eye can see. This natural wonder boasts towering glaciers offset by even taller mountains.

Located west of Juneau is one of the most breathtaking US national parks, Glacier Bay.

Best Time To Go: Late May – Early September.

To visit, you will need to hike or fly into the park. Tip: This vast and remote wilderness area has no official roads or trails. As such, you can expect to see plenty-from the lowest elevation at Kobuk River to the highest peak atop Mount Igikpak. All of its 8,472,506 acres are situated north of the Arctic Circle. Gates of the Arctic is the second-largest national park in Alaska and the northernmost national park in the United States.

From rugged mountains to massive glaciers and the beautiful Yentna River, a visit here is sure to leave you in awe. The national park also boasts breathtaking scenery. Among its many attractions are North America’s tallest peak, Denali, and a diverse range of wildlife. Covering 6,075,030 acres, this vast wilderness area has plenty to offer. If it’s an adventure you seek, then be sure to add Alaska’s Denali National Park to your list.

Here is my process when planning a national parks trip: I have planned so many national park trips! They are my favorite type of travel as I love the outdoors, and wildlife.
